As of March 2021, the new energy labels for washing machines, washer-dryers, dishwashers, cooling appliances are being used. The new energy labels are designed to help consumers to differentiate appliances in a better way. The new energy labels will display not only electricity consumption, but also other energy and non-energy information, with intuitive pictograms, to compare products and perform a better informed purchase choice: information about water used per washing cycle, storing capacity, noise emitted, etc. Actually, the energy efficiencies of the appliances stay the same. What changes is the rating or scale. In other words, the letter on the energy label changes. The appliances’ energy efficiency does not changes. One of the major changings on the new energy labels is the QR code. QR codes allow consumers to get additional information about the appliances.
What are the main features of the new energy labels?
The totally new energy labelling scale from A to G
QR codes on the upper right corner
The energy consumption of the appliances is shown in an uniform way
Various pictograms shows some selected product features
Washing Machines
One of the important changings of the new energy label of washing machines is about testing program. Eco 40-60 is declaration program for washing machines. This is the most efficient program for energy and water consumption. The new energy label of the washing machines is as follows.
Legend:
QR code
Energy efficiency class**
Weighted energy consumption** in kWh/100 operating cycles (in Eco 40-60 program)
Maximum load capacity
Duration of “Eco 40-60” program
Weighted water consumption** in liters/operating cycle (in Eco 40-60 program)
Spin efficiency class**
Noise emissions during spin cycle expressed in dB(A) re 1 PW and noise emission class**
* Eco 40-60 In order to achieve optimal energy efficiency, an optimal washing temperature is defined for this programme.
** Values apply to quarter, half and full loads
Washer Dryers
The new energy label of the washer dryers is divided into two parts. The left part shows the “wash & dry” and the right part shows “wash” cycle. The new energy label of the washer dryers is as follows.

* Values apply to washing quarter, half and full load. While washing and drying to half and full load.
** Wash and dry
Dishwashers
The new energy class for dishwashers again will be based on Eco program. Eco program is the most efficient program for energy and water consumption. The new energy label of the dishwashers is as follows.
Legend:

Energy efficiency class
Energy consumption in kWh/100 operating cycles (in Eco program)
Number of standard place settings for the Eco program
Water consumption in litres/operating cycle (in Eco program)
Duration of the “Eco” program
Noise emissions expressed in dB(A) re 1 PW and noise emission class
Refrigerators & Freezers
Energy class and energy efficiency determination of the products are now more comprehensive and calculations are more realistic. As well as energy scale is changed, QR code and noise level class are added to the label. New energy label is explained in details as below.
Legend:
QR Code: There will be QR code addition with the new label which directs to EU database EPREL.
Model Identifier: Model identification of the product in EU database EPREL.
New Efficiency Scale: Energy classes are now from G to A.
Energy Class: Energy class of the product.
Energy Consumption: Yearly energy consumed by the product.
Freezer Volume: Total volume of all freezer compartments in liters.
Refrigerator Volume: Total volume of all refrigerator compartments in liters.
Noise Level: The noise level is shown in dB(A) and now classified in classes A to D.
